I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I'm a typical Canadian who is a mixture of Old and New World ancestors. My mom was born to German/Ukrainian parents who immigrated to Canada after WWII. My maternal grandparents settled in the multicultural city of Winnipeg and raised a family of six. My dad was born to Cree/French Canadian parents who had a farm outside of Gimli, Manitoba.
My parents separated when I was five and I moved with my mom to Calgary, Alberta. I eventually attended the University of Calgary, where I completed my bachelor of science in archaeology. I went on to attend Centennial College in Toronto, Ontario, where I completed a graduate certificate in book and magazine publishing.
I moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, with my husband after I finished my publishing education. While working for the local public library in Prince Albert, I pursued a book deal with Second Story Press, the publishing house with which I interned with while still attending Centennial College. I submitted a draft list of 10 inspirational aboriginal women to the publisher, Margie Wolfe. This list was the starting point for my first book, Great Women from our First Nations / Native Women of Courage.
I now live in Regina, Saskatchewan with my family. I work as an Interactive Project Leader for SaskPower.
